ABOUT US

Our Organization

The Chiron Project ( phonetically pronounced "KAI-run") is named after the wise centaur of Greek mythology.

Chiron was a highly skilled teacher and mentor, who instructed many heroes in various arts and skills.

We chose Chiron because it exemplified the the work that we are committed to. We do more than consult. We train heroes.

Our Vision

We envision a world where the maximum positive potential of individuals and communities is realized.

Our Mission

We empower everyday heroes - no matter their background, identity, or position - with the confidence and competence to empower those who are systemically oppressed.

Our Values

The Chiron Project is guided by five core values. To us, these aren’t just ideals; they’re daily commitments.

  • Trustworthiness

  • Consciousness

  • Inspiration

  • Empowerment

  • Solidarity

Who We Work With

Everyday people seeking to learn how to better promote social justice and well-being for all.

We work with everyday heroes - people who care deeply about social justice and want to create positive change in their families, communities, workplaces, and organizations. Whether you’re leading bold initiatives or quietly challenging the status quo in your circle, your heart is in the right place, even if the path forward doesn’t always feel clear.

Many of our clients arrive feeling hesitant, overwhelmed, or disheartened. They’re emotionally invested in creating a better world, yet carrying the weight of burnout, self-doubt, or fear. Some are navigating misinformation, struggling to influence others, or facing resistance when trying to spark change. Others simply don’t know where to begin.

We partner with:

  • Book clubs and hobby groups

  • Community advocacy groups

  • DEI and organizational culture professionals

  • Educators and childcare providers

  • Nonprofit leaders and teams

  • Parents and caregivers

  • Senior executives and board members

  • Small business owners and consultants

  • Volunteer groups

  • Youth leaders

  • Anyone striving to build a more just and compassionate world

If you’ve ever felt stuck or unsure in your efforts to make a difference, you’re not alone. We meet you where you are and walk with you toward what’s possible.

Our Approach & Framework

Our approach weaves together neuroscience, psychology, social science, and community storytelling to help people understand and use their social power with intention. Grounded in our proprietary Social Power Continuum framework, every engagement is designed to turn awareness into sustained action.

Working with The Chiron Project feels like a relationship, not a transaction. We center the needs of marginalized people, invite honest dialogue, and create space for reflection, accountability, and growth. We don’t shy away from discomfort; we help people and organizations face it with compassion, adaptive design, and clear, constructive feedback — all in service of meaningful, values-driven change.

"Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself."

Our Story

Born from the courage to break the pattern.

The Chiron Project was born out of lived experience—years of watching even well-intentioned organizations struggle to confront inequity, sustain courageous conversations, and turn values into lasting change.

Our founder, Robyn Harper, witnessed these patterns early in her career while serving on equity committees within national education nonprofits. What began as casual “lunch-and-learns” grew into staff-wide dialogues that helped colleagues see each other—and their work—through a new lens. But as funding and politics shifted, so did the courage to engage. When honest discussions about race and power were silenced, Robyn saw how fear and hierarchy could unravel progress overnight.

Determined to do things differently, she joined her local school district’s Equity Strategy & Programming team, supporting schools through the pandemic and a national racial reckoning. Yet the same dynamics resurfaced: shrinking budgets, political pressure, and the quiet retreat from meaningful equity work.

In 2025, Robyn made a different choice. Rather than wait for another organization to “get it right,” she fully launched The Chiron Project, named after Chiron - the mythic trainer of heroes.

Through this work, Robyn set out to address three persistent gaps she had seen across communities, schools, and organizations:

  • Access to deep, affordable learning. People eager to understand the world around them were often priced out or left with surface-level training.

  • Connection between social impact work and community realities. Good intentions too often missed the mark without grounded understanding.

  • Support for courageous, values-driven leadership. Many leaders knew what was right but lacked the tools, confidence, or allies to act on it.

The Chiron Project exists to close these gaps by equipping people to navigate social power and lead anti-oppressive change—honoring the everyday heroes who show up, ask hard questions, and act with integrity. It’s a space where reflection builds confidence for action, and where learning becomes a catalyst for community transformation.

Our Founder

Robyn Harper is the Founder and Lead Consultant of The Chiron Project, a learning-centered consultancy that helps people and organizations navigate social power and lead anti-oppressive change.

Her work is grounded in research and built on trust - blending strategic insight with deep care for how change actually happens: through people. With more than a decade of experience in education policy, DEI strategy, and organizational learning, Robyn partners with clients to name power with care, strengthen cultures of accountability, and build the courage and clarity needed for meaningful transformation.

Before launching The Chiron Project full-time, Robyn led equity-focused initiatives for D.C. Public Schools and developed national research-based resources that helped educators, nonprofits, and public agencies move beyond performative equity work toward lasting systemic change.

At her core, Robyn is both strategist and storyteller - a facilitator who helps teams see the bigger picture, connect across differences, and lead with integrity. She brings thoughtfulness, candor, and compassion to every space she helps create, inviting people to do the hard, human work of building a more just world together.
