What is Anti-Oppression Academy?
Worshops for everyday heroes - both community members and professionals - to build knowledge, disrupt oppressive patterns, and practice collective action.
Too often, people are left trying to navigate systems of oppression without the knowledge or support to succeed.
Through engaging sessions grounded in adult learning and behavior research, Anti-Oppression Academy empowers participants to build language, skills, and confidence to address social inequities where they live and work. Each offering is designed to help you move beyond awareness and toward practical strategies that strengthen communities and spark lasting change.

Who is Anti-Oppression Academy For?
The Anti-Oppression Academy is a learning space for everyday heroes—community members, organizers, and professionals—who want to understand social power and make a meaningful difference in their communities.
It’s designed for everyday heroes - educators, organizers, professionals, parents, and neighbors—who are craving deeper learning than what most free workshops or panels offer. These are people who want to move beyond inspiration and into practice, building lasting skills to challenge oppression and strengthen their communities.
If you’ve ever felt the limits of surface-level trainings, struggled to connect big ideas to your local context, or been priced out of quality learning opportunities, this is for you. The Academy helps you bridge those gaps with clarity, confidence, and community—turning awareness into meaningful, sustained impact.
“One cannot expect positive results from an educational or political action program which fails to respect the particular view of the world held by the people. Such a program constitutes cultural invasion, good intentions notwithstanding.”
- Paulo Freire
Upcoming Workshops & Courses
Each Academy learning experience invites participants to explore real-world issues through dialogue, reflection, and practice.
Our offerings range from introductory workshops that build foundational awareness to deep-dive courses that strengthen long-term skills for personal and community transformation. Whether you’re taking your first step or deepening your practice, there’s a place for you here.
Our Approach to Learning
At the Anti-Oppression Academy, learning isn’t about quick fixes or scripted answers. It's about mindset and culture shifts through practice, reflection, and connection.
Each workshop is grounded in adult learning and behavior research, combining facilitator knowledge of how people learn best with opportunities for you to apply what you learn in real contexts. We believe that actualizing anti-oppression begins with clarity about social power, and that real change happens when people feel both confident and supported to use their influence for good.
Our learning spaces are built for real people and real conversations. Each session connects complex ideas to the lived realities of our communities, inviting participants to ask hard questions, share insights, and practice new ways of showing up.
When we learn together, we grow together—and that’s how community change begins.
