Our Approach to Coaching
Our coaching is grounded in the understanding that professional challenges do not exist in a vacuum. Decisions are shaped by power, identity, relationships, and systems—and effective leadership requires the ability to think clearly within those realities.
What distinguishes our coaching approach:
-
Space for honest, uncensored thinking: Coaching sessions are designed to reduce the pressure to self-censor. This allows clients to name root challenges, explore unfinished ideas, and think rigorously about options before acting.

-
Coaching that includes perspective, not just questions: In addition to reflective questioning, we offer perspective when it helps surface blind spots, disrupt biased assumptions, or clarify how power and identity may be influencing a situation. The balance between coaching and advising is adjusted based on a client’s experience and needs.

-
Power- and identity-aware analysis: Rather than treating identity or power as abstract concepts, we examine how they shape credibility, risk, resistance, and opportunity in real time—without reducing clients to those identities.

-
Attention to systems, not just individual behavior: Individual choices are explored alongside organizational structures, incentives, and constraints, supporting decisions that are both thoughtful and realistic.

-
Safety paired with challenge: The goal of our coaching is neither affirmation nor debate. We aim to create a space that feels both supportive and rigorous—where complexity is engaged honestly and accountability is not avoided.
